What I believe
AI empowers people, it doesn't replace them
The best companies won't use this to do the same with fewer staff. They'll use it to do more with the people they've got. Efficiency should raise your ceiling, not shrink your team.
More time on the work that matters
Nobody started a business to update spreadsheets and click through five different systems that each do a fifth of the job. That stuff can be handled, which leaves you free for the parts that genuinely need a human: customers, relationships, and where the business goes next.
AI is an incredible tool, but still a tool
A genuinely new way of getting things done, and the possibilities are real. But like any tool it's only worth having if it makes the job better, faster or cheaper. The goal is your outcome, never the technology.
Run your business your own way
Software used to mean waiting for someone else to build it, on their timeline, at their price. That's changing, and you can now build the tools around how you actually work rather than bending to fit someone else's.
About me
I'm Rick. I spent ten plus years working as a product manager in technology, across industries including AI, energy, telecoms and blockchain. The job was always the same underneath the industry: get clear on what problem we're actually solving and what outcome we're aiming for, then work with engineers, designers and everyone else to build something elegant that delivers it.
Getting that first part right is most of the battle. Plenty of good software gets built for the wrong problem.
I do the same thing now, just with a much shorter gap between understanding the problem and solving it. Nothing sits in a backlog waiting for a quarterly planning session.
